Blog #8:
It’s official now.... we’re open!

This past Sunday we celebrated the grand opening of New Life Lincoln Park. Here are some of my thoughts about that day.
- I met a lot of great people on Sunday. Can’t remember all the new names but I can picture their faces even now.
- Seekers, well wishers, un-churched, over-churched, young couples, singles, a few elderly, even a reporter and photographer were present at our first service.
- The core welcome team made us all feel at home. Friendly, helpful and available.
- It always feels a little strange when we are just a crowd but hoping to grow into a faith community. It is definitely a great place to jump in relationally.
- Felt like there was a sense of anticipation. Personally, I can’t wait to see what God does in this place.
- It was chilly for our trolley ride from the parking lot to the church building, but not as cold as the walk would have been. The kids loved the trolley ride.
- I’m really jazzed that we have secured a good size parking lot at the corner of Fullerton and Sheffield. Only city pastors understand how precious parking is.
- The worship was meaningful and communion at the end felt right. The 125 year old sanctuary is a great worship space.
Believing that this place is going to be a beehive of God activity. People connecting with one another. Experiencing God in deeper ways. A place of fresh starts and new beginnings.
